Our Story

Handcrafted. Laser-cut. Charted from real depth data.

Some places stay with you. The lake you spent every summer on. The harbour you sailed out of at dawn. The stretch of coast that still feels like home.

Wood Chart Canada began with a simple idea: that the waters we love deserve a place on the wall, rendered with the same care and detail as the memories they hold.

Every piece is laser-cut from Baltic birch, a wood prized for its fine grain, strength and warmth. Working from real bathymetric data, we translate the depths, shorelines and contours of each body of water into layered, three-dimensional relief. Each water layer is hand-stained so it darkens as the bottom falls away. The result is not a print or a poster. It is a faithful, tactile map of a real place, built layer by layer to show the way the water actually drops beneath the surface.

Canadian Coasts Charted

Pacific, Great Lakes, Atlantic. We chart the waters Canadians actually know, which is why the collection is deliberately small. The Salish Sea and the run of coast north to Haida Gwaii. All five Great Lakes, and Erie on its own because Ontario's south shore deserves it. The Gulf of St. Lawrence, where the whole system finally reaches the ocean.

That precision is the point. A coastline is unmistakable in its shape and a lake bottom is as distinct as a fingerprint. Each piece is rendered accurately enough that you can trace the channels you know by heart.

Because everything is finished by hand, no two pieces are exactly alike, much like the places they celebrate. Grain, depth and detail come together into something meant to be looked at closely and kept for years.

We warehouse and ship everything from Mississauga, Ontario. No border, no duty, no brokerage fee, no courier at your door asking for money before they hand over the box. Just the piece, shipped free, anywhere in the ten provinces.
