Four of the five Great Lakes border Ontario, and this clock puts all of them on your wall. It is the same charting work as our wall maps, cut down to 30 centimetres and fitted with a quartz movement.
The face begins as a single piece of high-grade Baltic birch. A second layer is hand-stained to bring out the water, the shorelines are cut and set on top, and laser etching adds the depth contours of the lake floors along with cities and points of interest. The hands sweep over Superior, Michigan, Huron, Erie and Ontario.
It reads as a clock from across the room and as a chart up close.
